Schumann Resonance
What is Schumann Resonance?
Schumann resonance is a global electromagnetic resonance, which is caused by lightning activity in the Earth’s atmosphere. It is named after physicist Winfried Otto Schumann, who predicted it in 1952. The resonance occurs because the Earth’s atmosphere acts as a resonant cavity for electromagnetic waves. The cavity is formed by the Earth’s surface, which acts as the bottom of the cavity, and the ionosphere, which acts as the top. Lightning strikes create electromagnetic waves that travel around the Earth and bounce back and forth between the surface and the ionosphere. These waves build up in the resonant cavity and create the Schumann resonance.
Have you ever found yourself looking forward to a thunderstorm? The Schumann resonance has a very low frequency, around 7.83 Hz. This is the same frequency as alpha waves, which are associated with relaxation, meditation, and sleep. Some people believe that the Schumann resonance can have a positive effect on our health and wellbeing. They claim that it can help to reduce stress, improve sleep, and boost immunity. There is no scientific evidence to support these claims. However, some people say that they have experienced positive effects after spending time in environments with a high occurrence of Schumann resonance.
